Target Information
TRPM8 is a receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detection of cool sensations, activated by temperatures below 25°C, as well as by icilin, eucalyptol, menthol, and changes in intracellular pH.
It is permeable to monovalent cations (Na⁺, K⁺, Cs⁺) and divalent Ca²⁺.
TRPM8 expression is mainly found in prostate epithelial cells, moderately expressed in normal prostate tissue, and elevated in prostate cancer.
Additionally, TRPM8 mRNA has been detected in non-prostatic tumors such as breast, colon, lung, and skin, but rarely in corresponding normal tissues.
