Target Information
TCEB1, also known as protein elongin C, is a subunit of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex. This complex consists of elongins A/A2, B, and C, and functions to activate elongation by RNA polymerase II by suppressing transient pausing during transcription.
Elongin A acts as the transcriptionally active component, while elongins B and C serve as regulatory subunits. Elongin A2 is specifically expressed in the testis and can form a stable complex with elongins B and C. The von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor protein binds to elongins B and C, thereby inhibiting transcription elongation.
Western blots using two different antibodies against distinct regions of this protein confirmed consistent molecular weight results.
