This antibody detects endogenous levels of total AQP5.
Target Information
Aquaporins (AQP0–AQP10) are membrane water channels widely distributed in mammalian tissues. Some isoforms (AQP3, AQP7, AQP9, and certain AQP10 transcripts) also transport urea and glycerol. AQP2 is vasopressin-regulated, enhancing water reabsorption in kidney collecting ducts. Aquaporins play roles in renal water absorption, pulmonary secretion, lacrimation, and cerebrospinal fluid regulation. In the lung, AQP5 mediates most water transport across the apical membrane of type I alveolar epithelial cells.
