Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK8 gene, part of a kallikrein subfamily cluster on chromosome 19, may be involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin and serve as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
