이 단백질은 세린/트레오닌 키나아제로서 DNA 손상 감지 및 세포 주기 체크포인트 신호전달을 활성화합니다. DNA 복제 및 유사분열 억제 관련 단백질을 인산화하고, DNA 복구·재조합·세포사멸을 촉진합니다. 또한 fragile site 안정성과 중심체 복제에 중요한 역할을 하며, 해당 유전자의 결함은 Seckel syndrome 1의 원인이 됩니다.
