Target Information
Langerin (CD207) is a type II membrane-associated C-type lectin expressed exclusively by Langerhans cells. It recognizes mannose residues via its carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD). Langerin is localized on the cell surface and intracellularly in association with Birbeck granules. Expression of Langerin cDNA induces membrane structures characteristic of Birbeck granules, contributing to membrane superimposition and BG formation.
