This antibody detects endogenous levels of total LIMK2.

Target Information

LIMK2 is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the regulation of actin cytoskeletal changes via phosphorylation of cofilin. It is also implicated in brain development. Although zinc fingers usually function by binding DNA or RNA, the LIM motif likely mediates protein–protein interactions. LIM kinase-1 and LIM kinase-2 form a small subfamily with two N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal protein kinase domain. LIMK2 is phosphorylated and activated by ROCK, a downstream effector of Rho, and in turn phosphorylates cofilin, inhibiting its actin-depolymerizing activity. This pathway contributes to Rho-induced reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton. At least three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for LIMK2.
