Target Information

Neuropilin 1 is a 923 amino acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family. It contains two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. Neuropilin 1 forms a heterodimer with Neuropilin 2 (NRP2) and binds to plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors. Predominantly expressed in the nervous system, it plays key roles in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, and organogenesis. It also functions as a receptor for semaphorins and VEGF, regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis. Neuropilin 1 may be implicated in advanced prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
