APEH (Acylpeptide Hydrolase)는 작은 아세틸화 펩타이드의 말단 아세틸화 아미노산을 가수분해하는 효소입니다. 생성된 아세틸 아미노산은 아미노아실레이스에 의해 아세테이트와 자유 아미노산으로 추가 분해됩니다.
APEH 유전자는 염색체 3p21 영역에 위치하며, 이 부위의 결실은 아미노아실레이스 활성이 감소하는 것과 관련이 있습니다.
APEH 단백질은 약 300 kDa의 동질사량체(homotetramer)로, 각 서브유닛은 732개의 아미노산으로 구성되어 있습니다. 세포 내 산화 손상 단백질의 분해 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
