Target Information
Arginyl-tRNA-protein transferase (ATE1), also known as arginyltransferase 1, belongs to the R-transferase family. This enzyme is essential for protein arginylation, a process required for ubiquitin-mediated degradation. ATE1 catalyzes the posttranslational conjugation of arginine to N-terminal aspartate-, glutamate-, and possibly cysteine-containing substrates.
ATE1 is a 518-amino-acid protein, existing as two isoforms due to alternative splicing. It can localize to the cytoplasm and/or nucleus and is typically found as a monomer.
