Target Information
ITGAV encodes integrin alpha chain V. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of alpha and beta chains. The I-domain containing integrin alpha V undergoes post-translational cleavage to yield disulfide-linked heavy and light chains, which combine with multiple integrin beta chains (β1, β3, β5, β6, β8) to form different integrins. Among these, the αVβ3 integrin, also known as the Vitronectin receptor (VNR), is well studied. Integrins are involved in cell adhesion and signal transduction. The ITGB3 gene encodes the integrin beta chain β3, which forms a complex with the alpha IIb chain in platelets, participating in cell adhesion and signaling processes.
