Target Information
TRIM71 is the mammalian ortholog to the C. elegans heterochronic protein Lin41, which is crucial in postembryonic development and acts downstream of Shh and Fgf signaling pathways.
Similar to its C. elegans homolog, TRIM71 is a target of microRNA let-7 and is likely involved in mammalian development.
TRIM71 functions as an E3 ubiquitin ligase and interacts with Dicer and Argonaute proteins (Ago1, Ago2, Ago4). Overexpression or depletion of TRIM71 inversely affects Ago2 protein levels, indicating its role in Ago2 turnover regulation.
Additionally, TRIM71 cooperates with the pluripotency factor Lin-28 in regulating let-7.
