MA3-930 detects sodium/potassium ATPase beta 1 from mouse, human, sheep, canine, and pig tissues. This antibody does not recognize the beta 1 or beta 2 subunit in rat.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunocytochemistry procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~42 kDa protein in liver samples and ~55 kDa in kidney samples representing beta sodium/potassium ATPase in sheep liver extract.
Immunohistochemical staining with MA3-930 yields a pattern consistent with plasma membrane localization.
The antigen is purified lamb kidney sodium/potassium ATPase beta, recognizing an epitope between amino acid residues 195–199 of sheep sodium/potassium ATPase beta 1.

Target Information

The ATP1B1 gene encodes a beta 1 subunit of Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase, an integral membrane protein responsible for maintaining electrochemical gradients of Na⁺ and K⁺ across the plasma membrane.
These gradients are essential for osmoregulation, sodium-coupled transport, and electrical excitability of nerve and muscle cells.
The enzyme is composed of two subunits: a large catalytic alpha subunit and a smaller glycoprotein beta subunit.
The beta subunit regulates the number of sodium pumps transported to the plasma membrane by forming alpha/beta heterodimers.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described, but their biological validity is not known.
