Target Information
ArfGAP1 is a 406 amino acid regulatory protein containing an Arf-GAP domain, involved in activating the GTPase activity of ADP ribosylation factor (ARF). It promotes the hydrolysis of ARF1-bound GTP and facilitates the dissociation of coat proteins from Golgi-derived membranes and vesicles, playing a key role in membrane trafficking and vesicle transport. The activity of ArfGAP1 is stimulated by phosphoinositides and inhibited by phosphatidylcholine. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported, and ubiquitous expression is observed in most tissues.
