Target Information
GADD153 is a small nuclear protein capable of dimerizing with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. The resulting complex inhibits the normal binding and function of C/EBP to classical binding sites, while gaining activity toward non-classical stress-related targets. Under normal cellular conditions, expression is minimal but is highly upregulated during cellular or ER stress (e.g., tunicamycin treatment, nutrient starvation, reducing agents affecting ER calcium flux).
