This antibody specifically recognizes PRMT5 (Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 5). It binds to a folded domain comprising amino acids 269–637. PRMT5 is an arginine methyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of omega-N monomethylarginine (MMA) and symmetrical dimethylarginine (sDMA), with a preference for MMA formation.
Target Information
PRMT5 (protein arginine N-methyltransferase 5) is an enzyme that mediates symmetrical dimethylation of arginine residues in small nuclear ribonucleoproteins Sm D1 and Sm D3, essential for snRNP core particle assembly and biogenesis. It catalyzes both MMA and sDMA formation, favoring MMA.
