MA1-914 specifically detects plasma membrane calcium pump PMCA4 ATPase from human, bovine, porcine, and rat tissues.
This antibody has been validated for use in Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA.
By Western blot, it detects ~129 kDa and ~133 kDa proteins representing PMCA4b and PMCA4a ATPase, respectively.
The antigen used is purified human erythrocyte PMCA ATPase, and the epitope has been mapped to amino acids 51–75 of PMCA4 ATPase, common to both 4a and 4b isoforms.

Target Information

The plasma membrane calcium pump (PMCA ATPase) transports calcium from the cytosol to the extracellular space.
This enzyme is related to other ATPases such as SERCA and Na⁺/K⁺ pumps.
Four genes encode PMCA ATPase, producing about 20 isoforms through alternative splicing.
mRNA studies show that genes 1 and 4 are expressed in most tissues, while genes 2 and 3 are more tissue-specific.
In the pancreas, beta cells express only the 4b isoform, whereas alpha and gamma cells express both 4a and 4b.
Different splice variants exhibit distinct affinities for calcium and calmodulin.
