Target Information

The FOXP1 gene belongs to subfamily P of the forkhead box (FOX) transcription factor family. These transcription factors are crucial in regulating tissue- and cell type-specific gene transcription during development and adulthood. FOXP1 protein includes both DNA-binding and protein-protein interaction domains. It may act as a tumor suppressor since it is lost in several tumor types and maps to chromosomal region 3p14.1, which is known to contain tumor suppressor genes. Alternative splicing leads to multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
