Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, composed mainly of three major proteins: NF-L, NF-M, and NF-H. NF-L (light chain) runs at approximately 70 kDa on SDS-PAGE gels, while NF-H (heavy chain) runs between 180–220 kDa depending on species. These proteins play a crucial role in maintaining neuronal caliber and are both tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
