Product Specific Information

This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for Human Cystatin A/CSTA.

Target Information

The cystatin superfamily encompasses proteins containing multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some members act as cysteine protease inhibitors, while others lack this activity. There are three inhibitory families in the superfamily:

  • Type 1 cystatins (stefins)
  • Type 2 cystatins
  • Kininogens

This gene encodes a stefin that functions as a cysteine protease inhibitor, forming tight complexes with papain and cathepsins B, H, and L. The protein serves as a precursor of the cornified cell envelope in keratinocytes and plays a role in epidermal development and maintenance. Stefins have been proposed as prognostic and diagnostic tools for cancer.
