Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40–68 kDa and have isoelectric points between pH 4.9–7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype is characteristic of specific epithelial types and their differentiation states. Cytokeratin expression patterns are widely used in distinguishing epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies are valuable tools for tumor differential diagnosis using immunohistochemistry, cytopathology, and flow cytometry.
