Endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 (ESM1) is a protein encoded by the ESM1 gene in humans.
This gene encodes a secreted protein mainly expressed in endothelial cells of lung and kidney tissues.
Its expression is regulated by cytokines, suggesting a role in endothelium-dependent pathological disorders.
The transcript contains multiple polyadenylation and mRNA instability signals.
Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
