They mediate extracellular to intracellular signal transduction through G-protein activation and respond to molecules such as hormones and neurotransmitters.
GPR41 (also known as FFAR3 or Free Fatty Acid Receptor 3) is a 346-amino acid multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the GPR family. It is highly expressed in adipose tissue and functions as a receptor for short-chain fatty acids, influencing intracellular calcium levels and adenylyl cyclase activity.
