Target Information

Galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins involved in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The protein encoded by this gene is an S-type lectin, overexpressed in Hodgkin’s disease tissue. It may participate in interactions between H and RS cells and surrounding cells, potentially contributing to disease pathogenesis and related immunodeficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist for this gene.
