Product Specific Information
- For FACS analysis: Use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10⁶ cells in 100 µL.
- Suggested positive control for IHC: Human tonsil.
- Mouse anti-Human CD54 antibody (clone 15.2) recognizes the human CD54 cell surface antigen, also known as ICAM-1 or Major group rhinovirus receptor.
- CD54 is expressed by many cells following activation by inflammatory mediators.
Target Information
ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type I integral membrane glycoprotein with an extracellular domain of five immunoglobulin superfamily repeats, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain.
It has seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares sequence homology with ICAM-2 (CD102) and ICAM-3 (CD50).
ICAM-1 binds to integrins CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) and CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1), and serves as a receptor for Rhinovirus.
It is expressed on activated endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B and T lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils, with expression increasing during inflammation.
Soluble ICAM-1 is detectable in plasma and elevated in inflammatory syndromes.
