Musashi-1은 RNA 결합 단백질 계열인 Musashi family에 속하며, 세포 운명 결정과 줄기세포 상태 유지에 관여합니다. 또한 전사 후 유전자 조절에도 역할을 합니다. 이 단백질은 두 개의 보존된 RNA 인식 모티프(RRM)를 가지며, 태아의 신장, 뇌, 간, 폐 및 성체의 뇌와 췌장에서 발현됩니다. 인간에서는 12번 염색체에 위치합니다.
