Target Information

Cyclins are regulatory subunits of Cdc2 p34 and related cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) that play critical roles in controlling cell cycle progression.

• Cyclin A and B associate with Cdc2 p34 kinase, regulating G2–M and S phase transitions.
• G1 cyclins (D1, E) control the G1–S transition via interactions with Cdks such as Cdk2, Cdk4, and Cdk5.
• Cyclin G contains a typical N-terminal cyclin box and a C-terminal domain homologous to the tyrosine phosphorylation site of the epidermal growth factor receptor.
• Cyclin G expression is induced within 3 hours after growth stimulation and remains elevated without clear cell cycle dependency.
• Cyclin G2 shares 53% amino acid sequence identity with Cyclin G1. Cyclin G2 peaks in late S phase, while Cyclin G1 expression is constitutive.
