Product Specific Information
- 0.1 µg/mL was sufficient for detection of CaMKII in 20 µg rat brain tissue extract by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:AP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 50–60 kDa.
- Recognizes both phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated forms.
Target Information
CAMK2A (CaMKII alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates various cellular processes including:
- Neuronal signaling and synaptic plasticity
- Gene expression and carbohydrate metabolism
- Cytoskeletal organization and calcium homeostasis
Autophosphorylation at threonine 286 enables CAMK2A to switch from Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent to independent activity. It plays a key role in dendritic spine formation, synaptic remodeling, and regulation of Ca2+ transport in muscle cells. In neurons, CAMK2A contributes to actin cytoskeleton reorganization during plasticity by binding and bundling actin filaments independently of its kinase activity.
