In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody recognizes both native and recombinant human IL17-F in cell supernatants and certain body fluids.
A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.

Target Information

IL-17F (Interleukin 17F, CTLA-8) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-17 family, produced by inflammatory cells such as activated T cells, mast cells, and basophils.
It is involved in allergic airway inflammation and induces cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules in bronchial epithelial cells, vein endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and eosinophils.

IL-17F may be secreted as a homodimer or heterodimer with IL-17A, acting through IL-17R to recruit monocytes and neutrophils by increasing chemokine production.
It stimulates pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8, and is implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.

TGF-β and IL-23 are required for induction and maintenance of Th17 cells, which produce IL-17 family cytokines.
IL-17F inhibits endothelial cell angiogenesis and induces production of IL2, TGFB1/TGFB, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1.
