Target Information
This gene encodes a protein with a conserved RNA-binding motif. The protein is found predominantly in the nucleus but also present in the cytoplasm. It is associated with mRNAs produced by splicing, functioning as a marker indicating intron positions and coupling pre- and post-mRNA splicing events. The RBM8B locus is now considered a pseudogene. Two alternative start codons and multiple polyadenylation sites produce different forms of the protein.
