Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
The MyoD (Myogenic determination gene) was first identified by its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells into muscle cells. Forced expression of MyoD (human homolog myf3) in various normal and neoplastic cells can induce muscle cell conversion or activate otherwise silent muscle-specific genes.
The regulatory domain of the MyoD protein includes:
- A basic DNA binding motif
- A helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif
Other genes with sequence homology in the basic HLH domain include:
- myf5
- myogenin (myf4)
- myf6 (MRF4, herculin)
