Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed samples): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes before staining.
Target Information
The MyoD (Myogenic determination gene) was first identified for its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells into muscle cells. Forced expression of MyoD (human homolog: myf3) can induce muscle differentiation or activate muscle-specific genes in various normal and neoplastic cells.
The regulatory domain of MyoD lies within a 70-amino-acid region containing a basic DNA-binding motif and a helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif.
Other related genes with sequence homology in the basic HLH domain include myf5, myogenin (myf4), and myf6 (MRF4/herculin).
