Product Specific Information
MA1-81821 recognizes serotonin and does not cross-react with 5-hydroxyindolacetic acid, GABA, noradrenaline, 5-hydroxytryptophan, carnosine, or melatonin.
Formaldehyde fixation is recommended prior to tissue staining.
Target Information
Serotonin (also known as 5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT) is a biochemical messenger and neurotransmitter synthesized from L-tryptophan.
It plays roles in regulating gastric motility and is associated with psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and depression.
Serotonin is widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as in non-neural tissues such as platelets.
