Separate Lenti-X packaging mixes are available for production of pseudovirus bearing full-length or truncated forms of the spike protein from the Wuhan-Hu-1 isolate of SARS-CoV-2. The truncation involves removal of 19 amino acids encoding an ER retention signal on the protein C-terminus, and is associated with increased abundance of spike protein on the resulting particles and increased particle infectivity (Johnson et al_._ 2020).
