Target Information
TRAIL-R1 (also known as CD261 or DR4) is a type I transmembrane protein, also called TRAIL receptor 1. The ligand for this DR4 death receptor, termed TRAIL, belongs to the TNF family. DR4 mediates apoptosis and NF-κB activation in various cells and tissues. Apoptosis, a programmed cell death process, plays a key role in cellular differentiation and development in multicellular organisms. It is induced by interactions between certain cytokines (e.g., TNF family members such as TNF and Fas ligand) and their death domain-containing receptors (e.g., TNFR1, Fas receptor).
