Target Information
Chromatin assembly factor 1 (CAF-1) is a member of the histone chaperone family, required for inheritance of epigenetically determined chromosomal states. In vitro, it promotes chromatin assembly during DNA replication and repair. CAF-1 consists of three subunits—p150, p60, and p48—and is localized to the nucleus. Its composition and biochemical activity are conserved among human, yeast, and Drosophila.
