Target Information
RAB family members are small, RAS-related GTP-binding proteins that are key regulators of vesicular transport. Each RAB protein interacts with multiple effectors involved in exocytic and endocytic pathways.
RAB7A regulates vesicle traffic in late endosomes and lysosomes and is implicated in cellular vacuolation induced by Helicobacter pylori VacA cytotoxin.
Mutations in conserved residues of RAB7A are associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) type 2 neuropathies.
