Target Information

MST1R (RON) is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in cell proliferation and motility. The protein forms a membrane-spanning, disulfide-linked heterodimer from cleavage of a glycosylated precursor into 35-kD (alpha) and 150-kD (beta) subunits. Ligand binding induces tyrosine phosphorylation of the beta chain.
Knockout studies show MST1R/RON (-/-) mice fail to survive past the periimplantation period. The MST1R/RON gene maps to 3p21, a region frequently deleted or mutated in small cell lung and renal carcinoma, and is implicated in epithelial cancer progression. Expression documented in many normal tissues including colon, mouth, prostate, and testis, as well as cancerous tissues such as colon, prostate, stomach, and uterus.
