Target Information
Forkhead-box J1 (FOXJ1) is a 421-amino acid transcription factor that suppresses T cell activity and spontaneous autoimmunity by repressing NF-κB activity. It also inhibits humoral immune responses in B cells. FOXJ1 deficiency leads to spontaneous germinal center formation and is implicated in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Additionally, FOXJ1 is essential for cilia formation and left-right axis determination by regulating calpastatin expression, aiding basal body anchoring to the apical cytoskeleton. FOXJ1 expression may serve as an early marker of epithelial cell differentiation and recovery.
