Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, microtubule organizing center, centrosome, spindle, nucleus membrane. Redistributes to axons during neuronal development. Also localizes to the microtubules of the manchette in elongating spermatids and to the meiotic spindle in spermatocytes. Localizes to the plus end of microtubules and to the centrosome. May localize to the nuclear membrane.

LIS1은 세포 내 platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase의 비촉매성 알파 서브유닛을 암호화하며, 이 효소는 platelet-activating factor의 SN-2 위치의 아세틸기를 특이적으로 제거하는 역할을 합니다. 세포 내에는 다중 서브유닛형과 단일 서브유닛형 두 가지 isoform이 존재하며, 혈청에서도 단일 서브유닛 isoform이 발견됩니다.
