BMPR1B (also known as ALK6, CDw293)
BMPR1B is a member of the transmembrane serine/threonine kinase family, part of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) receptor group closely related to activin receptors ACVR1 and ACVR2. It plays a key role in endochondral bone formation and embryogenesis. BMPR1B is expressed in normal and cancerous prostate tissues and is relevant in endocrine therapy for prostate cancer. Receptor trafficking of BMPR1B also contributes to FOP pathogenesis and human T-cell differentiation.
