DCC 유전자는 netrin-1 수용체를 암호화하며, 이 막단백질은 세포 접착 분자의 면역글로불린 초과족에 속합니다. 신경 성장 콘의 축삭 유도에 관여하며, Src 및 FAK(PTK2)와 상호작용하여 축삭 유인을 매개합니다. 이 단백질은 부분적으로 지질 뗏목에 위치하며, 리간드 결여 시 세포자멸사를 유도합니다. 또한 종양 억제 기능을 가지며, 대장암과 식도암에서 자주 변이되거나 발현이 감소됩니다.
