Target Information

Lin28 is a transcription factor first identified for its role in developmental timing in C. elegans. It plays a key role in stem cell biology and is used in generating induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells when co-expressed with transcription factors such as POU5F1, Sox2, and NANOG. iPS cells can also be generated using plasmids expressing Lin28, Sox2, POU5F1, and c-Myc, eliminating the need for viral introduction and improving safety for regenerative medicine applications.
