Target Information
RB-like 1 is similar in sequence and possibly in function to the retinoblastoma 1 (RB1) gene product. RB1 is a tumor suppressor protein involved in cell cycle regulation, being phosphorylated during the S to M phase transition and dephosphorylated in the G1 phase. Both RB1 and RB-like 1 can form complexes with adenovirus E1A and SV40 large T-antigen, binding only in the unphosphorylated form. These proteins inhibit transcription of cell cycle genes containing E2F binding sites, suggesting RB-like 1 may also act as a tumor suppressor.
