Product Specific Information

The sym0F1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human and mouse c-Maf, a 42 kDa basic leucine zipper transcription factor involved in neural, ocular, and hematopoietic systems.
In hematopoietic cells, c-Maf regulates IL-4 expression in Th2 cells and is crucial for Th subset differentiation. It also drives IL-21 expression in Th17 and Tfh cells, promoting IL-23R and CXCR5 expression respectively.

  • Applications Tested: Tested on TCR-activated mouse splenocytes using Foxp3/Transcription Factor Buffer Set (≤0.125 µg/test)

Target Information

c-Maf is a transcription factor belonging to the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) family and the cellular counterpart of oncogenic v-maf.
It regulates IL-4 expression in Th2 cells, crystalline genes in lens fiber cells, insulin gene in islets, and p53/L7 genes via Maf recognition element (MARE).
c-Maf is involved in Th2 differentiation, lineage-specific hematopoiesis, and IL-10 gene expression in LPS-activated macrophages.
Chromosomal aberrations involving maf are associated with multiple myeloma. Expressed in myeloma cell lines and resting monocytes/macrophages.
