Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody reacts with human Histone H3.2. A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with Human, Mouse, and C. elegans. It is predicted to react with many species including Rat, Chicken, Xenopus, Drosophila, and Plant based on 100% sequence homology. Cross-reactivity with Histone H3 from other sources has not been determined.
Target Information
Histone H3 is one of the DNA-binding proteins found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. H3, along with four core histone proteins, binds to DNA forming the structure of the nucleosome.
Histones play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication, and chromosomal stability. Post-translationally, histones are modified in various ways to either directly change chromatin structure or enable the binding of specific transcription factors.
The N-terminal tail of histone H3 protrudes from the nucleosome core and can undergo post-translational modifications such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, influencing cellular processes.
