Product Specific Information

MA5-15671 targets HAS1 in indirect ELISA, IF, and WB applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human HAS1 expressed in E. coli.
MA5-15671 detects HAS1 with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 65 kDa.

Target Information

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a high molecular weight unbranched polysaccharide synthesized by a wide range of organisms from bacteria to mammals. It is a major component of the extracellular matrix and consists of alternating glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine residues linked by β-1,3 and β-1,4 glycosidic bonds.
HA is synthesized by membrane-bound synthases at the inner surface of the plasma membrane and extruded into the extracellular space. It serves multiple functions, including space filling, joint lubrication, and providing a matrix for cell migration.
HA production is increased during wound healing and tissue repair, aiding blood vessel and fibroblast growth. Changes in serum HA concentration are associated with inflammatory and degenerative arthropathies such as rheumatoid arthritis.
The interaction between HA and the leukocyte receptor CD44 is important for tissue-specific homing by leukocytes, and overexpression of HA receptors correlates with tumor metastasis.
HAS1 is a member of the vertebrate gene family encoding hyaluronan synthases and shows significant homology to the hasA gene product of Streptococcus pyogenes.
