Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of Di-Methyl-Histone H4 only when methylated at Arg3.


Target Information

Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromatin in eukaryotes. Two molecules each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form an octamer, around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped to form nucleosomes. The linker histone H1 interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes, facilitating chromatin compaction into higher-order structures. The gene encoding histone H4 is intronless, lacks a polyA tail, and contains a palindromic termination element. It is located within the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6.
