Target Information

NTRK1 (TRKA) is a member of the neurotrophic factor family involved in the development and maintenance of the mammalian nervous system. TrkA is a membrane-bound receptor that, upon neurotrophin binding, phosphorylates itself and MAPK pathway members. Its expression induces cell differentiation and may specify sensory neuron subtypes. Mutations in TrkA are associated with congenital insensitivity to pain, anhidrosis, self-mutilating behavior, mental retardation, and certain cancers.
