Target Information
CREM encodes a bZIP transcription factor that binds to the cAMP-responsive element found in various viral and cellular promoters. It plays a crucial role in cAMP-mediated signal transduction during spermatogenesis and other complex biological processes. Alternative promoter and translation initiation site usage provide spatial and temporal specificity to cAMP responsiveness. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encode isoforms functioning as both activators and repressors of transcription.
